A Holiday With Purpose
Our Holiday Program creates opportunities for children to have fun, build confidence, make new friends and experience things they may not normally have the opportunity to experience. Each program is designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children can explore, participate and enjoy their school holidays.
Our Focus
A key focus of our Holiday Program is giving children the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone and try something new. We want children to experience activities, places and opportunities that they may not normally be exposed to.
We believe these experiences can help children build confidence, independence and a willingness to have a go. Whether it is trying a new activity, meeting someone new, visiting somewhere they have never been or simply joining in with a team game, every experience can be an opportunity to grow.
Creating New Experiences
Our Holiday Program is not limited to activities at the hall. We aim to provide a mixture of physical activities, games, learning opportunities, outings and experiences that children can enjoy together.
During our Term 2 Holiday Program, we took the children to the cinema to watch the new Moana movie. For some of our children, going to the cinema as part of a community program was a new experience. Opportunities like this are an important part of what we want to provide through our Holiday Program.
Building Friendships & Connection
Our programs also provide children with the opportunity to meet new people and build friendships. Through team games, shared activities and meals, children are encouraged to work together, support one another and build positive relationships.
We want children to feel included and comfortable being themselves, while also encouraging them to interact with children they may not normally spend time with.
Learning Through Play
We believe learning does not only happen inside the classroom. Our Holiday Program incorporates learning through games, teamwork, movement and hands-on experiences.
During our Term 3 Holiday Program, children took part in team games and learning activities coordinated by our staff and volunteers. We also incorporated outdoor experiences, including a walk around Weymouth Beach, giving children the opportunity to get active, enjoy the outdoors and connect with their local community.
Coming Together
Food and shared meals are also an important part of our programs. They give children a chance to sit together, talk, relax and connect after taking part in activities.
Our Term 3 program included pizza, snacks, a sausage sizzle and raro, creating opportunities for everyone to come together and enjoy each other's company.
More Than Just a Holiday Program
Our Holiday Program is about more than simply keeping children busy during the school holidays. It is about creating opportunities for children to experience, explore, connect and grow.
We want every child to leave with new experiences, new friendships, greater confidence and positive memories. By providing opportunities that encourage children to try something different and step outside their comfort zones, we hope to open their minds to new possibilities and experiences.
